origami dolls / 紙人形
Niigata Minatopia Old Customs House
This installation was shown in 2007 in the context of an annual tulip flower festival in northern Japan. Inspired by the pistil and anthers of a tulip flower, the dolls were made using origami and suspended in a Meiji-period building. The dolls symbolize fertility and were to be picked and colored by the visitors in a workshop.
